When I caught a glimpse of the sea at Cala Galdana I wanted to jump straight in. The colour of the water was amazing and so inviting.
There is a car park, although this gets full quickly so plan to arrive early if you want to park here. Otherwise there is parking on the side streets. Be aware that if you drive and park to the left of the beach looking out to sea, the way to walk is down many steps! We parked at the top and walked down. It was worth the walk down but not so much the walk back up again!
The beach is popular and big. There is a long stretch of sand, sunbeds and parasols to hire as well as boats to rent. On a rock to the right hand side of the beach there is a restaurant which is accessible from the beach and the sea. There is a platform and steps out of the sea on the rock. If you swim round this rock you get to a very small beach.
The beach is good for snorkeling next to the rocks on both sides. I wouldn’t advise swimming straight across the middle from one to the other though, its further than it looks and very deep. It’s better to swim back towards shore and to cross from one side to the other. There are warning signs on the rocks to the left to beware of falling rocks.
Cala Galdana seems to be one of the larger tourist places on Menorca and is quite popular to visit so the beach can be busy.
