Tonight we had the opportunity to go to Dunes Splash World in Southport.
We found the changing rooms to be clean and the state of the art lockers are unlike any I’ve seen before! We paid a pound on entry for a locker key which was an elasticated wrist band. You press the wristband to any locker to lock it and then again to unlock it. If you forget your locker number then there is a machine to press your wristband to and it will tell you your locker number. My son was very interested in the whole process and we needed to try out the locker a few times and read the instructions a few times too!
When we had finished investigating the lockers we went to check out the pool! Splash world is a fun leisure pool.
There are three slides. The first one we tried was a tube ride. You twist down the big yellow slide in your tube, stopping in pools on the way down. It was fun to keep finding each other on the way down.
The other two slides are tube slides which have a higher start point. Me and my son tried the fast slide and my daughter tried the family slide. My daughter said the family slide was fun but not too fast. It has lights as you go down. The fast slide is VERY fast! It doesn’t suddenly drop but it is dark and you don’t know what to expect next. It speeds up as you go down with water spraying in your face.
After the slides we explored the rest of the pool. We went round the rapids a couple of times. They aren’t the fastest but still fun to swim round.
We had a swim in the pool, watched the playframe and went and sat in the huge jacuzzi.
Splash World Southport isn’t as big as the larger indoor water parks in the UK but as leisure pools go it is really fun. The slides are really good and make the visit definitely worthwhile!

The session we attended was their “quiet nights” and it was brilliant!
It was not at all busy.
We did not have to queue for the tube slide and the queue for the other slides was minimal (about 5 people in front of us waiting for two slides).
The pools and rapids were quiet.
Dunes Splash World is in Southport, opposite pleasureland. Quiet nights run as two hour sessions on select dates. There is no need to book in advance.
