The Lea Marston Hotel, Sutton Coldfield, UK

The Lea Marston Hotel is a family owned 4 star hotel in Sutton Coldfield.

We checked in at 7pm and on finding out the spa closed at 8pm, decided to go straight for a swim.

The spa offers all sorts of treatments although these unfortunately stop at 6pm on a Saturday so we just used the pool facilities. The pool is lovely with clean changing areas and free lockers and towels. The water in the pool was warm enough to get in easily and the jacuzzi was lovely. There is also a steam room, rain showers and a sauna. Children are only allowed in at certain times but as my daughter looks old enough she was fine to swim too.

Dinner was booked for 9pm so we went back to the room to get ready.

We were staying in a family room and it was great. There was a double bed in the main part of the room and a double sofa bed made up round the corner.

The room came with a hairdryer, iron, mini fridge with complimentary water, kettle, coffee machine, robes and slippers.

The beds were comfy and everything was very clean. The wall mounted TV had SKY TV channels and my daughter was more than pleased to be able to watch the X-Factor!

The bathroom was huge with a large walk in shower and cool blue light above the toilet.

Elemis toiletries were provided.

We had the choice of two restaurants for dinner and chose to dine in the Adderly restaurant. The food was amazing! To start we were given olives and rustic bread with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip.

My daughter chose from the children’s menu because the adult choices were too posh and she said they sounded weird. She started with melon and berries which looked gorgeous and went down well.

Next she had the pizza and potato wedges which, again, she said was delicious.

She finished with the chocolate brownie and vanilla pod ice cream which looked really nice and got the thumbs up.

I started with a quiche. It was surprisingly extremely nice.

I also tried the scotch egg starter out of interest. It was amazing with hot sausage and freshly cooked runny egg in the middle.

For my main course I had salmon which came with cooked cucumber, something I’ve not really tried before. There were also some tiny potatoes. The portions were quite small although aesthetically pleasing  and the food tasted amazing!

I finished my meal off with a cheese board. What I liked about the menu was the fact that there was a selection of cheeses and you could pick which three you wanted.

My meal came with a free glass of pimms.

My daughter really enjoyed the “posh restaurant” experience and the staff were lovely with her.

After a comfy night’s sleep, it was time for breakfast and what a breakfast it was!

There were a great selection of continental items as well as cooked items and all of the food was fresh and yummy!

There was a choice of hot drinks and also juice available. The juice came in individual glass bottles and my daughter really liked that.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were all friendly and accomodating, the hotel comfortable and clean, the food delicious and the facilities great! We will definitely be back if we are in the area again!

Taking a child with an ASD to the Lea Marston Hotel?

The hotel is family owned and family friendly and accommodating.

The pool is open to children during certain hours, it might be best to ring in advance to find out when.

The hotel, even when busy (there was a wedding while we were there) seemed calm and generally quiet.

We went for breakfast at the start of the breakfast time and it was very quiet and calm.

The family room was quite large and comfortable.

The Hathaways might be the better choice of restaurant for dinner as it is more informal and relaxed than the Adderly.

If your child is ok staying in hotels generally then this is a lovely family friendly hotel.

The Lea Marston Hotel, Golf & Spa can be found at:  Haunch Lane, Lea Marston, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, B76 0BY

We stayed at the hotel using the stay and dine deal which included dinner, accommodation, breakfast, a glass of pimms and use of the health club facilities. The Lea Marston hotel also has a bar/restaurant, a golf driving range, golf course, gym and venues for weddings, parties and conferences.

That all looks so relaxing and luxurious. The scotch egg starter looks amazing! It would definitely be my choice. Although I completely understand your daughter thinking everything on the adult menu was too “posh”, I used to do that as a kid too!

You always know how good a hotel is with the products in the bathroom and with Elemis, you know it is going to be swish.

It looks like the hotel was pretty nice that you stayed in. But the food looks absolutely amazing. All that food just makes me hungry. Although I can understand why it might be a bit too upscale for kids.
