We pulled into the manned car park and the kids tumbled excitedly out of the car. We were off to Florida the next day and had to be at Heathrow airport first thing in the morning so had booked to stay in the Premier Inn Heathrow Airport Terminal 4.
The hotel is that new that it was still being built when I booked it 6 months ago! It has that new smell to it and the rooms are very clean, even for hotel standards.
As we came out of the lift into reception we were pleasantly surprised. The reception area is spacious and bright. There is a 24 hour Costa, screens showing live flight times and a bar/restaurant area.
We checked in using the state of the art, touch screen, check in machines that make you feel like you have stepped into the future but are so easy to use. You type your name and it prints you a room number and spits out your key! We had two rooms and there was a very helpful member of staff able to tell us we had to follow the same process again for the other key.
We went up the surprisingly speedy lifts to floor six and found our rooms.
We had two rooms next to each other with doors between them. They were incredibly clean and looked brand new. The beds were comfy, the pillows perfect and we were provided with a kettle, mugs, tea bags etc. The only thing missing was a fridge but then we weren’t expecting one.
There was a large flat screen TV in each room and the bathrooms had over bath showers.
The kids especially liked the packets of sweets left to welcome them, the cool purple light they discovered behind the headboard and the fact you could ring each others phones!
We needed an iron so rang down to reception and one was brought to us within two minutes!
I managed to get the kids asleep by midnight which for sleeping in a new place the night before a really exciting holiday was actually pretty impressive!
We had to get up early to go to the airport but breakfast is helpfully served 5:30-10:30 Monday to Friday so if you are catching an early flight you can grab breakfast before you go and even more of a bonus-kids eat free!
Breakfast was really good! The breakfast area has a lot of natural light and looks nice.
Breakfast is buffet style with both continental and hot options. All the hot food was the right temperature and there was a good variety of food on offer.
Additionally to the buffet you could order items such as porridge and omelettes. There were a variety of self serve juices and hot drinks. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Taking a child with an ASD to Premier Inn Heathrow Airport Terminal 4?
I took an over excited child with ASD and sensory processing difficulties to this hotel. He was on edge, nervous and excited at the same time but quickly calmed down once we got to the room.
There were sweets waiting in the room for the kids.
Checking in was so quick and easy and the lifts so fast that we were out the car, checked in and in the rooms in less than ten minutes.
The hotel is surprisingly peaceful considering its next to an airport and people are coming and going all night. We didn’t hear a thing from the rooms.
The reception/Costa/restaurant/Bar area is large and open plan but doesn’t seem loud.
The restaurant area has huge windows and a lot of natural light.
The breakfast buffet has a lot of options.

We paid £80 for two interconnecting rooms with breakfast. Car parking was charged extra at the hotel at £25 a night. Long term parking and airport transfers are available although we did not use these. The hotel connects to terminal 4 but is also about five minutes drive to Terminal 2 and 3 long stay car park.
