This is my new favourite Mexican restaurant! About 20 minutes drive from The Strip in Las Vegas is Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina. It is a Mexican restaurant/sports bar and if you are ever in Las Vegas it is more than worth a visit or ten!!
We ended up going for dinner at 4pm as when we rang for a reservation we were told they were fully booked all weekend but if we turned up before 4 we should get in.
When we got there they found us a table straight away and took our drinks orders. The restaurant, as we walked in at five to 4, was almost empty but within 5 minutes it was packed and people were queuing out the door!
The fact the restaurant was busy did not affect the friendly service at all and we were well looked after and never waiting or wanting for anything.
As soon as we sat down we were brought menus and nachos with 2 dips, some refried beans and a plate of cooked jalapeno and onions. We also ordered a small cheese sauce and a small guacamole to go with the nachos. All the dips were delicious! Nothing was too spicy although the jalapenos had a fair bit of kick to them.
We ordered our mains and more nachos were brought out to tempt us while we waited.
We didn’t have to wait long though as next we were given some tomato and noodle soup which again was delicious.
The mains we ordered were one vegetarian fajitas and one chicken/steak fajitas. They were wheeled out to us on a trolley and set fire to! The presentation was amazing, the portions huge, and the food mouth wateringly delicious! The food tasted fresh, even the tortillas were homemade.
We had so much food we were struggling to finish it so asked if we could take some with us. We were given two boxes and a bag to put it in which very helpfully sorted out the next day’s picnic!
The plates were cleared and we were offered dessert. I absolutely had to try refried ice cream as it is something I have never eaten before. I wasn’t disappointed! It was a mix of cornflakes and delicious ice cream lightly fried then topped with whipped cream and a cherry. The ice cream was out of this world.
The friendly staff in this restaurant are obviously busy but have all the time in the world for you and really make you feel at home. We never had to ask for more drinks or anything at all as they were refilled when they were almost empty and staff made sure everything was ok with our meal. The feeling I got was this was a family business thriving because of the great service and amazing food and everyone is made to feel welcome.
